Today was my first day back on the torch since preparing for the show last week. I kept looking at the glass, waiting for some inspiration. There was none. I know other artists can just march on, maybe reverting to a favorite pattern or design, just to break through the creative block. I have never been able to do that. I have tried, but I never feel a connection to the things I create when I feel like that.
First bead went into the dunk bucket within 5 minutes. I can’t remember the last time I dunked a bead that had even a half a chance to survive. The second bead made it to the kiln but now that I have seen it, it will never again see the light of day. By the third, it was obvious that my muse had flown the coup. I tried working on some other ideas I have been wanting to try but it still fell flat.
Since nothing I was working on was coming out ok, I decided to try some off mandrel work. Being too lazy to change out the 104 on my bench for boro, I decided to throw caution to the wind and chance the flying frit I usually get when making off-mandrel things with soft. Amazingly enough, nothing exploded on me. I made 2 marbles, an implosion pendant and a turtle. The turtle broke when I bought it out of the kiln but I knew it would. I used a boro punty and I left a small dot on the back I couldn’t get off. I still think it turned out pretty cool. I am excited to try again tomorrow.

I had this listed on etsy but it just didn’t feel right. The listing is still up, but the story is here.
Unfortunately, one of our 9 week old puppies accidentally broke his leg last
weekend (Story Below). I am offering these SS lampwork earrings for sale in order to to help pay for veterinary care(setting, casting, re-casting).
This is a grab bag type sale. I will randomly pick a pair of earrings for you. each pair is made using artisan lampwork beads made by me and all sterling silver components. Thank you for looking.
Imagine if you will, you are a sly young puppy, just 9 weeks old. Your little life has been spent in the lap of luxury. You day starts at 5 am when your human Daddy gives you and your brothers and sisters a nice warm bowl of food before he leaves for work. Then after a quick nap, your human bothers play with you before they leave for school. The rest of your day is full of chasing the other puppies around the house, being loved by momma and generally wreaking havoc from one end of your house to the other. At the end of the day, you cuddle into your soft bed, smiling, dreaming about what is to come tomorrow.
Then one day, as you are chasing your sister around the kitchen table, you realize that the miracle portal that the human sometimes disappear through is left open. There is a warm breeze that tickles your nose. With a tentative paw, you take a step out into the sunlight. Within seconds, you are enjoying a whole new world, the OUTSIDE.
Soon the whole family is outside with you, exploring every inch of this new world. Each deck board needs to be investigated from one end to the other. In the middle of your Then you discover a creature so alien, so strange, so ugly, that you know it must be destroyed.
At first, you just give it a light little growl. Your sisters are all scared of your growl. But no, that does not have any effect on the thing in front of you. You plant your hind feet and give it your fiercest growl AND a bark. The creature turns it head and looks at you like, “WTH?” So you go for it, you are gonna give it a little nip. You pounce but the creature is too fast for you. You pounce again, again it avoids your wrath. It starts to walk away and you give chase. The thing will not escape you. It speeds up, you speed up. He goes faster, you go faster.
Just as you are about to reach it, you learn 2 new lessons…
1. Chickens can Fly.
2. Puppies Can’t.
Thank you for your support from the Human Mommy and Daddy

I did pick the winner of the gift certificate, I will be sending them an email once I get everything listed.

I will have to edit tomorrow with pictures but I have to tell you, some of these Breast cancer survivor goddess beads I have been working on. It seems that after 2 am, all of them start transforming into new and exciting things. I have one cooling in the kiln right now that looks like a smiling face. I replaced the breasts with 3mm CZs and all of a sudden my pretty double masectomy goddess became a really freaking looking pink smily face with a mohawk.
I am sorry to say that it isnt the weirdest goddess of the week. Last night I was making a one breasted goddess and didnt like the pearls I put on the neck so I melted them in and replaced them with transparent green ones. I added the nipple and looked at it again and realized the breast, necklace, and nipple had suddenly transformed themselves into a penis. I am thinking that bead is gonna go into the WTF jar.
OK, Off to sleep for a few hours. I need to get 100 beads done tomorrow. What ever made me think I could do a show this big with everything else going on I will never know. 6 days left and counting.

I JUST got off the torch. I got in a groove that either means I have some wonderful beads in the kiln or some pretty ugly ones. When I first made my list of things today, I thought I had the day to myself for the most part, I was lookin’ at the wrong day. Went with the hubby to breakfast (Amazing spending 5 minutes with him without a kid or something else via for his attention at the same time) one of the twins had a doctor appointment, and then they both had a birthday party to go to and the end of the season wrestling awards banquet.
As you can guess, it was almost 9:30 before I even turned the kiln on. Had I not put my list on here, I probably would have just skipped it, I was tired and I was sore. But, to do lists are made to get you to do things you may not want to so I popped a pain pill and went to work.
When I started, I really didn’t want to be there so I started with simple dot beads, like the ones I did last night. They are good for when you are not all tht creative since they are a set pattern. Then one of the new pupp ies came running through the kitchen and I thought “paws?” So I started making little pandora beads with 3 toed paw prints on them. You are probably thinking the same thing hubby said when I yelled for him to come take a look, “Dear, Dogs have 4 toes not 3.” Well DAMN. LOL
By then the creative juices were going. While getting up and moving between beads I would have the next bead planned out. Kiln got fuller and fuller. There are at least 30 mandrels in the kiln going through the annealing process. I can not wait to see what is there when I wake up, hopefully sometime tomorrow afternoon LOL
I am tired, I hurt like hell, but I wish I didn’t have to stop but I think 3:30 it past my bedtime LOL. I wish I had been able to get the items listed, but thats ok, I will just keep them on the list for tomorrow. I am not gonna list making any beads since I am not sure if I will get in time to get the mandrels reipped. So for tomorrow, my goals are:
- Clean ALL the beads in the bowl, even the ugly ones
- Make 3 Pendants into Ready-to-Wear Jewelry
- Make 3 earring sets into Ready-to-Wear Jewelry
- Photo and list 3 beads on Etsy
- Photo and List 2 Orphans on Ebay
- Line at least 5 beads in Silver and 5 in Copper
- Make 3 sets of Bead Caps, either Copper or Silver
I know this is a long post but I wanted to get this Treasury screen print real quick before it went bye bye. I hope you enjoy.

that someone else made LOL. I have pasted a copy of it at the bottom of this post, as well as a link to it that will work until it expires.I also grabbed a treasury of my own, I will post the screen shot tomorrow. It is all about Breast Cancer Awareness items since I am 3 weeks away from the Big Womens show.
I didn’t get a chance to make anything new today but I am hoping to hit it hard tomorrow night. Before I go to bed tomorrow I want to do the following:
- Make 20 Pandora Beads
- Make 3 Pendants
- Make 3 earring sets
- Photo and list 3 beads on Etsy
- Photo and List 2 Orphans on Ebay
I know that is quite a list, especially since I have appointments tomorrow too but hell, Aim high or go HOME.
Time for bed, I will be back tomorrow night to let all my imaginary cyber-readers know how I did.

Mama said there’ll be days like this, There’ll be days like this Mama said….
Like everyone, I find myself trying to do 48 hours of work in 24. Last night, I cut the cores for 15 beads while I chatted with friends. Got up this morning, cored the beads (broke my favorite of course) and cleaned beads from Monday. Now, do I photo and list or do I go make more?
I am writing early cause I want to make some clear goals for the rest of the day.
- Make 15 pandora beads
- Make at least 5 pendant beads
- Photograph the 30 beads ready for pictures
- List on Etsy at least 5 more beads
- List 3 Wonkys on Ebay. Each at its own listing, .99 starting bids
I think that is a good enough list for the next 10 hours. Wish me luck, I will be back to let ya know how I did.
